Adopt-A-Roadway

Overview

Adopt a RoadwayThe Colonial Heights' Adopt-a-Roadway program has been developed by the Virginia Department of Transportation in cooperation with the Virginia Division of Litter Control and Recycling and Keep Virginia Beautiful, Inc. to help overcome the litter problem along your State’s highways.

Only through the involvement of citizens like you can Colonial Heights preserve its natural resources and maintain quality roads with pleasing roadsides. We appreciate you daring to care enough about Colonial Heights to consider adopting a section of highway or street and keeping it clean, By doing so, you will help reduce litter along the roads and release City employees and funds to concentrate on improving the City’s highways and streets.

Application and Conditions of Program

Visit the link below for the conditions of the program and a permit application, plus a brochure describing the program with safety tips to follow. If after reviewing the material you or your group decides to participate, please complete the application and return it to the City of Colonial Heights Public Works Department. You will be given a form to fill out and send in after each pickup. These will help us keep records on the program’s progress.
