Today at 11:30 AM, Colonial Heights Fire and EMS along with Chesterfield were dispatched to the 4800 Block of Conduit Rd for a house fire. When fire units arrived, they found single family dwelling with heavy smoke showing. Once inside, fire crew located the fire in the kitchen. No one was home at the time. Crews were able to rescue the five dogs from the house. One cat was not able to be saved. Colonial Heights Animal Control was called the scene to assist the family. One firefighter had a minor injury and was treated on the scene. The fire was under control in about 30 minutes. The occupants are getting further assistance from family and friends. The cause of the fire was determined to be combustibles to close to the stove.

Colonial Heights Police Respond to Domestic Disturbance
On March 8, 2020, at approximately 9:00p.m., the Colonial Heights Police Department, along with units from the Chesterfield County Police Department, responded to the 100 Block of Cedar Creek Lane in Colonial Heights in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Bank Robery Arrest Update- Colonial Heights
On February 7, 2020, the Colonial Heights Police Department arrested Robert Bruce Hall Jr. of Chesterfield, for the robbery of the Atlantic Union Bank located in the 3000 Block of the Boulevard in Colonial Heights.

HOUSE FIRE
Today at 10:27AM, Colonial Heights Fire and EMS along with Chesterfield Fire were dispatched to the 300 Block of James Ave for a reported house fire. When fire units arrived, they found single family house with heavy fire in the back. Fire crews attacked the fire from the exterior till the fire was under control at 10:40. The occupants were able to escape safely. They are receiving assistance from Red Cross. The investigation ruled the fire accidental as a possible electrical failure. Damages are estimated at $40,000.

Thanks to a grant from the Department of Criminal Justice Services, the Colonial Heights Police Department will, once again, partner with the Colonial Heights Public Schools and assign a full-time Police Officer to the Colonial Heights High School Vocational School.

10-26-17 PD Media Release: Colonial Heights Police and Public Schools Conduct Annual Training
On October 26, 2017, the Colonial Heights Police Department and Colonial Heights Sherriff’s Office, in coordination with Colonial Heights Public Schools, conducted active shooter training and a lock down drill at the Colonial Heights Middle School, and Colonial Heights High School to include its Vocational building.
This critical training allows officers to practice a coordinated response to an active shooter incident, as well as for school staff and students to practice proper school procedures in a lock down situation.
