Citizens Government Academy

About the Program


The Colonial Heights Citizens Government Academy is a free program created to provide residents with a better understanding of local government operations and services, as well as encourage involvement and participation in activities, events and programs.

The program consists of 8 weekly sessions held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at various locations throughout the City. Each week City representatives will meet with participants at designated locations to discuss department topics. Locations include: City Hall/Administration, Library, Public Works, Recreation & Parks, Public Safety and Courthouse.

Enrollment

Enrollment is limited to a first-come basis. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a resident in the City of Colonial Heights. Applications are available online. Please submit application via email, mail, or fax to:

Program Attendance

Citizen must attend at least 7 out of 8 sessions. Participants that miss 2 or more sessions will be required to make up the missed sessions during the next academy in order to complete the program and participate in the graduation ceremony.
