COVID-19 PUBLIC NOTICE: Testing and Vaccine Information
The purpose of this public notice is to provide our community and residents with COVID-19 updates and resources. It is important that residents read this information to better understand the vaccination process and efforts being made to have the vaccines available. The City of Colonial Heights is part of the Chesterfield Health District. Please understand that the City of Colonial Heights does NOT have the authority to make decisions on vaccine availability and distribution to the general public. For any questions regarding COVID-19 Testing and/or Vaccinations, please read the information below and click on the links that will best assist you.
Chesterfield Health District wants to share this important Vaccination Registration Update 2/12/2021:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is launching a Statewide Vaccine Pre-Registration System to provide a unified and comprehensive process for people in Virginia to pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine. As a result, the Virginia Department of Health has directed all local health districts to close their pre-registration forms and surveys at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 12, and replace them at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16 with a link to the new statewide system at vaccinate.virginia.gov. In the interim, existing waiting lists will be imported to the new system and pre-registration will be temporarily unavailable throughout Virginia.
All individuals who have previously filled out a survey or form or signed up for a waitlist to be vaccinated through their local health district will be automatically imported into the new statewide system. Individuals will maintain their current status in the queue, and will be able to search that they are in the new system starting Tuesday morning.

The Virginia Department of Health Chesterfield Health District (which includes Colonial Heights) has released its COVID-19 Vaccine Inquiry Form. The tool DOES NOT reserve a vaccine or create an appointment, but it does collect contact information, so that when vaccines are available, the VDH Chesterfield Health District can contact you to make an appointment.
Please note that it could be weeks or months after completion of this form until you are contacted. This is due to a very limited vaccine supply across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Residents can still pre-register for the vaccination waitlist using the VDH Chesterfield Health District hotline at 804-318-8207; however, phone systems continue to be overwhelmed, so residents are asked to please pre-register online if at all possible.
After completion of the form, please do not call or email to check your status. Please be patient - you will be contacted as soon as possible to schedule an appointment. Please do not pre-register multiple times or leave multiple messages. Doing so will only cause delays or prevent others from getting a vaccine.

COVID-19 Testing Information
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) provides COVID-19 testing information including who should be tested, how to be tested and the types of tests available. To locate testing sites, view the testing sites map.
Additionally, Chesterfield Health Department holds free testing events each month. Residents who may be experiencing COVID-19 symptoms as defined by VDH or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are strongly encouraged to attend the free indoor, walk-up testing events. No reservation is necessary.
COVIDWISE is Virginia’s official exposure notifications app that lets you know if you’ve likely been exposed to another COVIDWISE user with a positive COVID-19 test result.
COVID-19 Vaccine Information
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) has defined eligible groups to be vaccinated by establishing vaccination prioritization guidelines. State government is responsible for rolling out the vaccine to the general public. Chesterfield Health District’s role, like that of all other health districts throughout Virginia, is to provide vaccines in accordance with the VDH-defined prioritization guidelines. Residents of long-term care facilities will be vaccinated through a national contract with Walgreens and CVS.
Chesterfield Health District (comprised of Powhatan, Colonial Heights and Chesterfield), is a part of the Virginia Department of Health, which is a state agency. The VDH’s health districts form a network throughout Virginia that is being used to roll out the vaccine to citizens. Citizens who have received information from the Chesterfield Health District, or any other local health district, are receiving information from the state.
There is a limited amount of vaccines available nationwide and supply continues to be a challenge.

Please know that health department staff are working hard to meet the demand. Due to the high volume of calls to the COVID-19 Call Center, wait times are longer than normal. We appreciate your patience.
Also, due to challenges with the vaccine supply chain in the United States, vaccine distribution across the Commonwealth has been significantly reduced. Therefore, please expect wait times of days to weeks between when you sign up to be vaccinated and when you are contacted for an appointment.
