About the Program

The C.H.A.R.T.S. Legacy Bench Program provides a lasting remembrance of relatives and friends or an organization's support for the community.

Through the Colonial Heights Appomattox River Trail System's Legacy Bench Program, anyone can provide a unique dedication to honor a friend, relative or organization by having a bench placed through the trail system to include Roslyn Landing Park and Appamatuck Park. This dedication provides a lasting memory and enhances the meaning of the bench to observers. The gift is also a valuable contribution to the park and trail system to be used and enjoyed by all.

Specifications and Cost

The Colonial Heights Recreation & Parks Department will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of benches in a location mutually agreed upon. Each 6’ long bench comes with a 3” x 6” engraved plate to be affixed with your mutually agreed upon text. The cost to donate a bench is $500.00 for benches that are currently in place. The cost for new benches is $1,000.00.

The Colonial Heights Appomattox River Trail System (C.H.A.R.T.S.) greenway will inspire the community by improving the quality of life for its residents and enhance economic development opportunities along it. Its development will occur in phases as resources allow, remaining consistent with previously approved concepts for the Appomattox River, the City of Colonial Heights Comprehensive Plan and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
