Meeting Schedule


Colonial Heights City Council meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the City Council Chambers of City Hall at 201 James Ave. Special meetings may be called at City Council's discretion. View upcoming meetings.

Attending Meetings


Meetings are open to the public. If you are physically disabled, hearing or visually impaired and need assistance at these meetings, please call the city manager's office at (804) 520-9265 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.

Agendas


Copies of the City Council agenda can be obtained online after 8:30 am on the Monday prior to the meeting or from the city clerk's office at City Hall.

Getting On the Agenda


To be placed on the council agenda to formally address an issue, a letter should be sent to the city clerk requesting that you be placed on the agenda. The topic of discussion must be specified and the letter should be received the Wednesday prior to the meeting on the following Tuesday. Send letters to:

Presentations


Each person addressing the council should approach the lectern and state his name and address for the record. Special equipment (easel, VCR) is available upon request. All remarks should be directed to council as a body and not to any member thereof. Any questions for council members should be asked through the Mayor.

Time Allowed for Speaking


Unless further time is granted by the council, each person speaking on issues not on the agenda can address the council for a maximum of five minutes, regardless of the number of issues he desires to discuss.

Written Petitions / Public Hearings


A person speaking pursuant to a written petition and communication on the agenda or a person speaking during a public hearing is allowed to address the council for a maximum of five minutes unless the council extends his time; provided, however, that the main proponent of any application, petition, or plan that is the subject of a public hearing can be allowed to address the Council initially for a maximum of 10 minutes and later in rebuttal for a maximum of three three minutes.
