How do I file a complaint with the Sheriff's Office?
HOW TO MAKE A COMPLAINT
1. If you wish to make a complaint about the actions of a Colonial Heights
Sheriff’s Office employee:
a. Come to the Colonial Heights Sheriff’s Office and tell any
employee that you want to make a complaint and they will direct
you to a supervisor who will assist you; or
b. Call the Colonial Heights Sheriff’s Office (804 520-9352) and
tell the person answering the phone that you want to make a
complaint; or
c. Request a complaint form through the mail by contacting the
Colonial Heights Sheriff’s Office or write out your complaint and
mail it to the Sheriff at:

2. A Colonial Heights Sheriff’s Office supervisor may assist you in filling
out a complaint form. This form asks you to identify yourself and give
specific details about your complaint.
3. Your complaint will be investigated. You may be contacted and asked
additional questions about your complaint.
4. If the investigation becomes lengthy, you will be advised of such.
5. When the investigation into your complaint has concluded; the Sheriff
or Chief Deputy will review the investigation and contact you in writing
informing you what has been done regarding your complaint.
