Bulk Waste Collections Will Resume Monday, May 18

in Colonial Heights

Beginning May 18, residential collection of bulky waste and yard waste at the curb will resume in the city. Place any extra bags, bulky waste and yard waste next to trash carts on the curb on your regular collection day by 7am.

Bulky waste includes large appliances, furniture or other waste material that cannot be placed in the Cart due to size. Bulky Waste does not include Construction Waste or Hazardous Waste, which is not collected, nor allowed to be placed in the cart or at the curb.  Appliances that contain Freon (refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners) require special handling. A $10 fee must be paid in advance for the safe removal of the Freon prior to pickup to our Billing and Collections Office (For question call 804-520-9320). Place your receipt of payment in a zip-lock bag and place it on or inside the appliance on the day of collection. Any refrigerator door(s) must either be removed or tightly secured for safety reasons.

Yard Waste must be bundled and tied together not exceeding 4 feet in length or 75 pounds and grass clippings and leaves must be bagged and placed next to the Cart.

Bulky and yard waste is limited to the quantity of material that can safely be placed in and transported by a one-half ton pickup truck.

The Colonial Heights Recycling Center – 2701 Conduit Road – Services are available to Colonial Heights residents is open Fridays and Saturdays from 8am-5pm, with the exception of 12-1pm for lunch. However, the dumpster that was temporarily available for bulk waste items at the City Recycling Center will no longer be available now that curbside bulk collection is resuming.
