The Colonial Heights Public Library will offer its annual summer learning/summer reading program for youth of all ages. This year’s theme is “Reading by Design,” and the program will take place from June 26 – August 2, with several events occurring each week. Highlights include multiple STEM workshops and a show by Mad Science, wildlife shows with mammals and reptiles, an aquarium program featuring sharks, 4-H educational events, and cooking for kids with Edible Education.
We will also be serving a free lunch twice weekly for all youth through age 18. Youth through high school age may register for the online reading program and earn points and virtual badges by reading (younger children may listen to stories), attending library events, and visiting local museums or participating in various learning activities. Qualify for free books and several grand prizes!
A detailed calendar of all events is available at the link below.
Through the generosity of the Library of Virginia and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Colonial Heights Public Library will once again be offering nature backpacks for families to check out. The backpacks include free admission and parking at any Virginia State Park, along with nature guides and helpful items for use on the trail.
