Lights in the Heights Decorating Contest

Presented by the Colonial Heights Beautification Committee, Chamber of Commerce, and Recreation & Parks Department

Residential Categories

  • Santa's Choice - (1) $100 Gift Card
  • Rudolph's Choice - (1) $50 Gift Card
  • 1st Place (*one per zone) - (5) $50 Gift Card
  • 2nd Place (*one per zone) - (5) $25 Gift Card

*Note - City zones relate to the boundaries of each of City’s five voting precincts

Commercial Category (Business, Church, or Organization)

  • Santa's Choice - (1) $100 Gift Card
  • Rudolph's Choice - (1) $50 Gift Card

Participant Random Drawings

  • (10) $10 Gift Cards

 Must register online here or by calling (804)520-9390 by December 3rd

Rules

  • Participation is open to Colonial Heights residents, businesses, and organizations
  • No cost to enter
  • Contest is for exterior decorations only, and based on "curb appeal" including decorations in windows. Judging will be as viewed from the street only
  • Participants agree to have one or more photos of their decorated home or commercial exterior posted on the City website, social media pages, and/or published in the City Focus newsletter. Participants agree there will be no compensation of any kind for said posting or publication
  • Winning participants agree to have one yard sign placed on their property displaying the award. Signs will be placed by committee members or City staff, and be removed by January 2
  • Judging will be done from 6:00pm to 8:00pm December 8 through December 14. Participants should ensure that all lights, animations, and decorations are in place and activated on all judging dates. Winners will be announced by December 16.

Judging criteria will include:

  • Unique design and creative use of lights and decorations
  • Display and placement of decorations, animated objects, etc.
  • Overall presentation
