Recreation & Parks Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates (Updated June 26, 2020)

The Colonial Heights Recreation & Parks Department is working closely with our City leaders in monitoring the COVID-19 situation. For the safety of our participants we have made program and rental changes. Staff will be reaching out over the next few days with those that have registered for programs. Please see below and contact us at (804)520-9390 with any questions.

Beginning Monday June 29 we are moving into the City's Phase II response plan. See our reopening information below for facilities:
Colonial Heights Community Center rentals will resume July 1 with renters required to follow state guidelines.

Colonial Heights Senior Center is reopening to the public on Monday, July 6 with modified program/activities. Our facility will be open to the public from 8:30am-4:00pm Monday through Friday. Temperature checks for the general public will be done upon entry at the front door of the building. This is the only door that will be available for use.
We encourage the use of face masks for non-exercise related activities and recommend social distancing. For exercise classes (excluding Tai-Chi and Line Dancing):
Mondays - No classes at the center. Feel free to choose from our previously recorded Facebook classes. If your last name begins with A-K join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If your last name begins with L-Z join us on Wednesdays and Fridays. For our Tai-Chi, Line Dancing and Meditation classes the above rules do not apply. You are free to come to those at any time.

To avoid overcrowding in the hallways please do not enter the building any earlier than 10 minutes before the start of class. You MUST bring your own weights, bands and/or yoga mats daily as we will not be able to provide equipment. Each participant must sanitize their chair after use. Our Fitness Center will be available during operating hours but will be limited to 4 people at any given time.

Senior Transportation will be limited to medical appointments, food pantry deliveries and grocery store visits. Please call 520-9219 to schedule a ride.

Please see the link to the July calendar below. If you have any questions or need further information please call the center at 520-9220. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Violet Bank Museum is reopening to the public on Monday, July 6. Public Hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday – Saturday, and Sundays 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Temperature checks for the general public will be done upon entry at the Museum.

Recreation & Parks – Other facilities
Recreation and Parks Administration Office at Shepherd Stadium will be open to the public from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday beginning June 29. Temperature checks for the general public will be done upon entry at the Parks and Recreation Administration Office.

Pavilions at White Bank, Lakeview, and Fort Clifton Parks may be rented with renters required to follow any applicable state guidelines.

Our Parks, Playgrounds, and Trails are open at this time, and being outdoors in nature is a great way to get much-needed fresh air and exercise. While we encourage park visits, we do ask that if you are sick and/or experiencing symptoms consistent with the COVID-19 infection that you please refrain from visiting. Guests are also encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines during all visits by keeping a distance of 6 feet or more between you and other guests. Also, groups or gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited. It is important to remember that any public facility is only as clean as the last person who touched it. Therefore, a good portion of your safety relies on you. You should also be aware that our sanitizing and disinfection protocols do not include outdoor surfaces, play equipment or picnic tables.
